Posted Friday, October 31st, 2008

I bet you thought I was dead! Well, perhaps I was but appropriately for Halloween I have sprung back to life like a Creature sliding off a slab and I am currently in hiding in the snow bound wastes of Hertfordshire. There have been reasons for my silence on this frequency, some interesting, some less so, none to be revealed for the time being – especially since I have great and important news… I too have created a Monster. But,

Michael Winterbottom goes to Genova

Posted Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Another barrage of wonderful films from the LFF… and sadly only three days to go. And yet more fantastic British suprises. Any new film that comes out by Michael Winterbottom (yes, he has made 15 films in 12 years.. he really has..) will always be of great interest. And his latest GENOVA is possibly his most intimate yet. I really liked it. The premise sounds pretty straight – following the death of his wife in a car accident, university prof

Target: Women

Posted Friday, October 24th, 2008

I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered Sarah Haskin’s Target: Women videos. If you ever watch ads marketed to women and you think “huh?” or “WTF?” or even “Please keep your cheesy marketing campaigns out of my living room you patronizing turds” then you will enjoy Haskin’s take on birth control, botox, chick flicks and yogurt! P.S. Beware of gray hoodies: It’s that “I have a Masters but then I got married” look.
