Posted Monday, March 22nd, 2010

British filmmaker Jessica Morris won an award at the European Independent Film Festival with her documentary “Reachie Rosie”. Here she is talking to me about the film and the festival… And here is a trailer for Reaching Rosie.

1st draft guidelines for unpaid postings

Posted Sunday, March 21st, 2010

So here is our first attempt at putting forward a definition of the productions that can advertise for unpaid work on Shooting People. The idea is that this would be a check box that producers and directors have to fill out before an unpaid posting is accepted. We welcome all comments and suggestions here from both producers and crew. We’d like to refine these ideas here on the blog and then put them to a vote by the members before

Pete Schlatter.

Along with Thomas Browne, another person I met at Ecu who seems to have benefited from a change in career is Pete Schlatter. Pete is now one of the key players behind the G-Tech range of hard drives but in previous lives he has worked in most areas of film production. It’s about now I should declare an interest. The only reason I was at the European Independent Film Festival in the first place was because G-Tech were sponsoring the

I’d actually been

Load The Canon.

This is the follow on of the previous entry which, because of the way the internet works, is of course published below. I split them up to make it easier to digest and because they are clearly two halves of a single point so it’s up to you, you can either scroll drown and read the first one first or start here and do your own private version of Memento… Perhaps now the vanilla version of the NPA has crumbled

Hallo 24/25p – Goodbye NPA.

Posted Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Having stuck around a day more in Paris after the end of The European Independent Film Festival so that I could mooch around Le Jardin Luxembourg and find out that Lucien Freud is just as much of a fan of dogs as I am, I arrived home yesterday to find a small cross over in film culture had occurred. Tuesday marked the release by Canon of a firmware update enabling the 5D Mark II to shoot in both 24 and
