Personally I&#8217;m a little addicted but I&#8217;m not sure if it&#8217;s a good, productive addiction or a bad, waste-of-time, distracting addiction. It&#8217;s a little like being at a big dinner party and trying to have lots of different conversations at the same time and never quite getting to the point.]]></description>

In this case to delicious, stumbleupon, Twitter and Tumblr.</p>
<p>One of the things I would say about all these sites is that it really helps to use them to get a sense of how they work. Reading the &#8220;about&#8221; section isn&#8217;t always that helpful. I thought Twitter was for twits until a friend showed me how he was using it to really participate in a community of film geeks in San Francisco and beyond.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve been thinking a lot about participatory culture recently as I&#8217;ve been desperately trying to get up to speed with all the exciting things happening online.  Just watched the video below from a <a href="http://www.ted.com/index.php/" target="_blank">TED</a> talk by Howard Rheingold. It&#8217;s fascinating to think about how so many of the new systems and sites use collaboration  to work &#8211; in fact the more people that use them the better they work for everybody &#8211; from the folksonomy of tagging to the hive mind of Wikipedia to the server network of BitTorrent. I feel like a hopeless dilettante in this arena but I love it all too. Here&#8217;s the vid:<br />
