More about me

Pinny is an award winning documentary filmmaker living in Hackney. Pinny's first short documentary Mr and Mrs Smith gained acclaim at the Channel 4 British Documentary Film Foundation Festival BRITDOC in July 2006 and was in Best of the Fest at Britspotting 2007 in Germany - where it was described as 'hilarious' and 'heart-warming' by the judges. Her next short documentary was the multi award winning Peter and Ben about a man and his best friend (a sheep called Ben). The film was made through the UK Film Councils Film London Digital Shorts Scheme. It won many awards including the FourDocs Award for Best Documentary, VX Auteur Award, at The 5th London Short Film Festival and Best Documentary at Aspen Shorts Fest 2008, as well The Grand Jury Prize in SXSouthWest Click. In 2008 the film is travelling extensively to festivals across the world including IDFA, Clermont Ferrand, Hot Docs, True False, Silver Docs, DOXA, Seattle International Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, and Los Angeles Film Festival. The film gained a release on DVD with Movie Mail as the Short before the Feature Film 'On The Black Hill'. In 2007 Pinny also directed critically acclaimed 'BRAVO!' a series of 4 x 3 Minute Wonders for Channel 4 about The Bra ('Today's Highlights' in The Daily Telegraph who described it as a 'wry romp through the knicker drawer of brassiere history'). In 2008 she made 'Hearing a Smile Seeing a Song'' as part of 'Inspired by' a series of 3 minute wonders inspired by music for Channel 4 shown at the BRITDOC Festival in 2008. She is currently developing her first feature length documentary 'Voytek The Soldier Bear' - about a bear who faught in the 2nd World War. It is being produced by Grierson Award winning production company Animal Monday. In 2008 Pinny was also nominated for a 2008 Channel 4 New Talent Award in the short documentary category.
