Entirely project focused, this intensive week long workshop is designed to help you come away with a wealth of ideas to develop your film story or draft screenplay.

Located in the beautiful and inspiring coastal town of Essaouira, projects will be developed through an intensive mix of small group sessions and one-to-one meetings, offering a unique opportunity to gain maximum creative input on your screenplay, explore ideas, solve important story problems, discover techniques to develop memorable characters, and build on your strengths to create a strong and marketable script.

The week offers plenty of time to write, as well as expert and personalised feedback on your work, individual exercises and assignments, and the option of ongoing feedback from a script mentor at the end of the workshop.

We also welcome writer/producer and writer/director teams with projects in development.

Anne Woods is a professional screenwriter with her own production company and a highly experienced script consultant. Described as inspirational by many of her clients, she worked for several years at the BBC and has script edited hundreds of projects for independent production companies in the UK and Europe. As a director of Euroscript, she has taught on many residential workshops and offers personal mentoring and consultancy. She is currently working on a PhD undertaking research into the output of BBC Films.

Charles Harris is an experienced award-winning writer-director for cinema and TV who optioned his first professional script to a producer working in Hollywood and has since worked with top names in the industry from James Stewart to Spike Milligan, Ricky Tomlinson and Alexei Sayle. I've always felt the best way for writers to learn is to be fully immersed in a professional writing environment working with an experienced mentor.

This weekend Summer school has you developing film and TV projects as if in studio while you cover the range of screenwriting skills from A-Z.

You will work on "commissions" and on your own projects, earn ScreenPLAY dollars as you improve and learn the professional approach to actual screenwriting problems from finding your structure and developing believable, exciting characters, to creating subtext and dealing with exposition.

This workshop is only for a small group, so that everyone can receive close attention.

With free screenplays emailed to you for advance reading.

Project Development Workshops

On selected Mondays, from 6.15pm - 9.30pm, our tutors are on hand to help you with your writing.

Develop your script from initial idea to final draft. Euroscript is committed to helping you make your work the best it can possibly be - whether feature-film, short, sitcom, TV drama or series.

Whatever stage you’re at, from an idea that hasn’t even been put onto paper yet, to a draft of a script, bring your work along and receive constructive criticism to help you develop it further.

It works like this: we allocate one tutor to up to six writers.

On the Thursday before the Monday evening you submit your work to be circulated to the other writers and our tutor.

You may circulate: up to four pages of a treatment typed in single line spacing; or up to 30pp of your screenplay (if it isn’t the first 30pp please submit a brief summary, no longer than one page); a list of questions you would like the group to think about (optional).

You will receive feedback from the other writers and tutor; and together we’ll create a development plan for you, agree how frequently you want to come, and give you attainable goals for each step and deadlines to help focus your work.

You will also be expected to give feedback on the other writers’ projects, so please ensure you allow time for reading on the weekend before.

If you have never given feedback on work before, you will find this sharpens your script reading and editing skills and improves your own writing. Guidance on how to give feedback will be given to you by the tutor on the evening.

When your current draft is complete you will then be in a position to choose whether to continue develop the project within the group, work on it alone, or with a personal Euroscript mentor.

Sometimes, if you don't have an agent, Euroscript may help you market your script.
