Final Round

Vote now. Top three films go to this month's patron.

Voting for this month ends:

First

round

From the 1st till the 20th of each month you can upload a film you have made of any length across any genre made in any year to our film competition. Shooters can then vote on your film by awarding it 1 to 5 stars. The top 5 films at midnight on the 20th will proceed to the FINAL ROUND, where they will be joined by 5 wild cards from the leaderboard. These wild cards are films picked by Shooting People staff and guest experts that we think deserve more attention.

Final

round

The top 5 films from the FIRST ROUND and the 5 Shooting People wild cards make up the FINAL ROUND leaderboard. Star ratings are set back to zero. It's then a scramble for the top 3 positions and the chance to have your film viewed by our guest patron. Voting closes at midnight on the last day of the month. Only the top 3 films in this round will go to the guest patron for judging. 2011’s patrons included; Nick Cave, Paddy Considine, Miranda July and Matt Groening.

Winners

All 3 finalists will receive a Vimeo+ membership worth $60, but more importantly they will get feedback about their film from that month’s judge. The judge will also pick a winner. Each month there may be additional prizes which we will announce at the time. Read what previous patrons have had to say here

Film of the Month is a competition unique to Shooting People, you can upload any film of any length, genre or style and made in any year.

Each month the competition is split into 2 rounds, the FIRST ROUND takes place between the 1st and the 20th of each month.

You can upload your film at any time before the 20th and all members can vote for your film, the top 5 films from this round will be entered into the second round.

Those films will be joined in the second round by 5 films we consider to be underdogs in the competition, those who deserved to but didn’t quite make the top 5 (in our opinion).

Then they will battle it out for the top 3 positions on the leaderboard to win the coveted prize of being viewed and judged by one of Shooting People’s high profile patrons.

Not only do our top three films receive feedback from a Shooting People patron, they also win a free Vimeo Plus account worth $60.

You must be a member to submit your work, sign up now to take part.

Promote your own film in the competition through your own social media outlets, posting to our bulletins and asking personal contacts for support.

“This is an opportunity to view new film created by the rising stars of tomorrow, as hand-picked by the leading talents of today.”
