The annual Shooting People Oscars Poll

The annual Shooting People Oscars Poll returns again this year and we're thrilled to see that there are some Shooters in the running - congratulations to patrons Lucy Walker and Danny Boyle as well as Karen Goodman, Jennifer Redfearn, Michael Creagh and Luke Matheny who have all been nominated.

We like running this poll - it's fun, involves some strategy and you can win £100 ($160) for a few minutes work. All you need to do is vote for who you think will win in each of the main categories. You need to get all seven to be in the running and the money is split between those who get it 100% correct. If it's just you, then no splitting. You can tuck those notes in your back pocket and throw your own mini-Oscars party with cheap champagne and plastic diamonds.

Simply log in and cast your vote by before 26 February 2011 at 12:00am (GMT).

Good luck!

Of course I am too long in the tooth not to realise it is more about manipulation than quality. Ask yourself why BAFTA is before Oscar - simple, if Bafta dont award a US film some awards then Oscars skip the Brits. Of course it is all dressed up to look fair but come on guys - we know the truth !!!!

No idea why David O. Russell has been nominated for Best Director when Christopher Nolan should clearly be nominated (and win).

David Sandercock says...
Great to see inception on the list for best film but a shame Chris Nolan was snubbed for best director. Action film directors and editors are underated although after the lord of the rings trilogy things are slowly changing.

I hope that the best one wins!

Rob Munday says...
What about Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant - the most brilliantly deranged film of the year deserves some recognition.

Aurora Adams says...
More my wishes than my predictions but there you go...

Aaron Sorkin will win Best Adapted Screenplay
...and Christopher Nolan's been mugged.

Nikki Hilton says...
wish we could all watch it on regular tv here- like the rest of the entire world! it sucks to be in the uk during the oscars!

Nusrat Howard-Moore says...
Inception coz it was just so clever, entertaining and new, Annette Bening just coz Ms Portman was not totally unconvincing in ONE scene (when she got the good news) despite being really good in all other scenes, Colin Frith coz he stutters so well, Darren Aronofsky coz he made Black Swan so gripping (despite not noticing Ms Portman's distraction), Exit coz it was all Banksy's fault, Biutiful coz unlike King's Speech, it was not just about white people and Inception coz Christopher Nolan should be winning Best Picture, Best Director, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects. I think at most only 4/7 of these choices might coincide with the Academy's:) At least I'll be right about that haha.

Chris Wiseman says...
Hmmmmm exciting stuff alright :)

Ellin Stein says...
I voted for Natalie Portman because I think she will win (show me the money!) but I wish Annette Benning would win. Portman's role was more flashy and scenery-chewing than Benning's more subtle, nuanced performance but the Acad does love to reward portrayals of mental disturbance (plus given that most Acad voters are men, I'm sure they were more taken with the lovely Natalie as a fantasy lesbian than the middle-aged Benning as a mundane lesbian)

Simon Aldous says...
It would also be nice to have a poll of who we think should win - next year maybe?
