Do you Tweet?
Is anyone using Twitter actively? Do you find it useful? Do you find out about cool stuff through Twitter? Or is it just more noise, less signal?
Personally I’m a little addicted but I’m not sure if it’s a good, productive addiction or a bad, waste-of-time, distracting addiction. It’s a little like being at a big dinner party and trying to have lots of different conversations at the same time and never quite getting to the point.

I was sKeptical about Twittering. But, this is how I use it. I can text to Twitter, and it’s posted on my blog using a widget from Twitter. That gives my readers a minute by minute update of what’s going on with the film in between regular blog posts. And it gives me mobile flexibility. It doesn’t drive a lot of traffic to my blog because I don’t have many people following the Twitter account, but it does provide a service to my regular blog readers.

It’s fun and worth it just for BBC Breaking but some people do seem to in=sist on telling you what they’re having for lunch. We’ve used i for a game and there’s a cafe that tweets it’s daily specials (I wish more would take this up). Similar to Daneeta, I also use it to update Facebook status. Check out:
http://www.twitterlocal.net for, well, local feeds
http://www.tweetscan.com/ for following specific keywords instead
http://www.tweetclouds.com/ for checking what people twitter people out before following them

I use an application called Twitterfeed, which automatically posts links to my new blog posts to Twitter, though I’m not sure if this has actually driven any traffic toward my blog. I also set it up so that my Twitters update my Facebook status automatically, so presumably, I could use Twitter only for those short updates that make far-flung friends and colleagues feel they know what I’m up to while not… wait for it… frittering my time away. Gosh I’m funny. I think it can be worthwhile, but I like have a fairly streamlined process so I’m not updating in several different places manually. I love your Twitters Ingrid

I love twitter for it’s shortness and for the humour it brings out in people - I’ve discovered all sorts of things through twitter that I wouldn’t have otherwise known about - discounts to conferences, free books, picked up new words like ‘tuttle’. Will I still be using it a year from now - maybe - it’s a play thing, a toy for me and i love the way people use it differently. It’s creative.

twitter can be very useful, but my perspective is that of a person who reads the tweets of web video industry thought leaders and just people who are generally interesting.
also use it to find out about some parties or events that are going on from time to time.
not many people follow me, yet…
