The current system of film distribution is a disaster for creative filmmakers. At the same time, the future of digital distribution is all to play for. Having already had a major impact on the production of indie film, Shooting People is hell-bent on finding new ways to expand the opportunities for getting great films seen and shown.
We called the Shooting People distribution label WORD OF MOUTH because we believe that it is a film’s reputation that should determine its fortunes not its marketing spend or the power of its producers.
As an online community we have the potential for word of mouth to travel really fast to a lot of people. If you love a film, you can tell thousands of people the next day. Stephen Woolley has already acknowledged the power of Shooters to help directors like him get their films into cinemas.
At Shooters HQ we believe that great films should be able to find the audiences they deserve. We are committed and passionate about affecting change. Change that is much needed to both find new audiences outside the dominant, traditional gatekeepers and change that will help restore originality back into our cinemas.

about it in the bulletins (it will be placed under 'SHOOTER FILMS', a popular
place for members to promote what they are up to).

Every year we run more initiatives to screen and promote your shorts and features here in the UK and USA.
The Mobile Cinema – taking your films direct to audiences in the back of a van, with a projector, dvd player and a wacky team of passionate shooter filmmkers who will do anything to get your films seen. Check out the Mobile Cinema 2005 (which went all around the UK) and stay tuned for Mobile Cinema USA 2006.

SHOOTING PEOPLE FILMS - new distribution label
Our new distribution label/company has been financed independently from the community and is being run by the brilliant Penny Nagle. Our goal is to develop new models for alternate distribution, to give filmmakers the best return and to share what we learn with other Shooters and other labels with the same love of film.
Our first DVD releases are the spellbinding holocaust documentary KZ (there is also a school's version with teaching aids) and Oscar shortlisted Unknown White Male. They will be followed by fiction feature Gigolos (directed by Shooter Richard Bracewell) and the next award winning short film collection Best vs Best 2.
We have tried to price them very cheaply so that they get as much distribution as possible (you will be able to buy 3 titles for £25!).
LOOKING FOR NEW FILMS TO DISTRIBUTE
We are actively seeking new titles - so if Shooters have a feature finishing now, or has been finished in the last few months, please get in touch and tell us about it. If you loved a film at a festival that you think might be considered too niche to have UK distribution, please tell us about it!
We aim to work highly collaboratively with filmmakers to find innovative ways to market great films with niche appeal. No blockbusters, just nichbusters!
