A Night at the Shelter

About this film

I made this film as part of an exhibition about homelessness showing January 2012 at High Wycombe library. Wycombe Homeless Connection were kind enough to let me film at one of their night shelters. http://www.wyhoc.org.uk/ Many believe High Wycombe is an affluent town. On the surface it is, but let's not imagine there are no homeless people there. For one thing, people become homeless for a number of reasons, the principal one being relationship breakdown. And that can happen even in a prosperous place. What's more, at Wycombe Homeless Connection, we meet just as many people who have lost their homes through unemployment as through alcohol; so no-one should judge too readily.
