Sampang on Madura island, west of Bali Indonesia is where they race bulls. The local people are great but the air is thick with religious intolerance. The Kiyais or preachers in the Madrasahs there hold sway over the population. They are so esteemed that parents offer their daughters to these Kiyais to marry. Some of these Kiyais are known to have had more than a hundred wives. Really! These are the Kiyais who have issued a Fatwa that Muslims who dont follow their interpretation of Islam can be KILLED or expelled. To be honest I am terrified to try to infiltrate these madrasahs to make an investigative docs though the story is very interesting - the Kiyais not only get teen brides they marry and divorce after a short time, but also actually sleep with the male students and the male students bonk each other. Talk about hypocrisy. This small film is the little I can do for the 317 people now living in an indoor stadium as a result of the fatwa from hell. But...I am writing a feature film based on the true story that is happening in Sampang - Sex, Religion and Bullshit.
