Paul, thank you so very much for your comments. Especially coming from someone whose work I strongly admire. You are absolutely right about the sound. That has always been my thorn but working with a mini dv camera, that's the cost. At the end I decided to submit it, with all its technical problems, and hoped it will be judged for its context, the synthesis of text and acting. The man in the park is Pauli, a non trained actor, but very intelligent actor and one of the most original minds I had the joy to encounter!

Mary, I thought it was well written and followed through with good acting (the casting was spot on). I loved the neurosis of the two men with their intensities. It's clear that the acting had been directed with detail and that the actors had responded to this positively. The problem with camera mics is the amount of background noise that comes with the sound. I would personally try to 'noise filter' it out because when the dialogue cuts in and out, the noise becomes more obvious; but this is down to taste, and when it comes to art there are no rules contrary to this clean plastic film culture we're in. It's the narrative that's more important after all. Overall, the film is fun, and I do feel sorry for the 'man in the park'

About this film

Nicole leaves Martin for Stan. Martin is not exactly heartbroken but in the fashion of a true intellectual sees Nicole as 'the failed project'. And he puts the blame mainly in linguistics and the signifier 'love' whose meaning he struggles to perceive. On the other hand Stan, a free-spirited women's man, decides that their affair was a mistake and he never planned to tie himself down, deep within. I made this film in 2005 but re-edited it in 2009 in a shorter version. I would appreciate your comments and observations.
