Larry Charles, writer on some of TV's greatest comedies. He's responsible for a lot of laughter, and this is your chance to have him critique your work.
Simple but hangs in your mind for some time. There is a lot under the surface. Daniel, in few minutes you managed to sump up some aspect of the human condition. One tiny criticism: a little bit more humour would have been welcome to put up with this realism.
This is one of the best short films I've seen. I cared about these characters, and I cared about what happened to them. Beautifully shot too. Congratulations.
A really lovely film. I felt very uncomfortable at the end and wasn't expecting that. I found it very simple yet strong and captivating, I love the fact that there was no music only incidental - it made it seem very real and as if we weren't being told how to think - just being led by the emotions of the characters.
Beautifully shot, well-written, well-cast and directed with a smart, subtle hand. Nice job! Thanks for that brave ending; very unexpected and felt real! I could have used subtitles throughout, tho -- I lost a good deal of dialogue because of the accents.
Thank you shootingpeople, Penny Woolcock and Jason Solomons, for picking 'A Supermarket Love Song' to be 'Film of 2009'. I really appreciate the support. I directed the film. But it was written by Jack Thorne who is now already a writing superstar and you can see why.
I'm now writing a feature film. I started the first draft at the beginning of January and today I'm up to page 83. I'm really excited about it. So let's hope it ends up on the big screen in the not too distant future. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Onwards and upwards...
All the best,
Dan
PS. I first met Jack Thorne through shooting people about a year before the production. So thank you for your help there too!
I did shoot in Wandsworth yeah. Roehampton. About 5 mins walk from where I was born at St Marys hospital. Typical! I spent 2 weeks searching all over london for pre-fab bungalows, and then my mum drove past one right where I was born.
