Looking for a reason

About this film

I am fascinated by the Protestant work ethic and the commitment and motivation required to work, how people identify themselves through their occupation and the pride they take in their work. Through other peoples work I question my role as an artist and consider my anxieties with regard to usefulness and sense of purpose.For the films Task and 'Looking for a reason' I built-up a relationship with two firemen who agreed to search a disused fire station wearing breathing apparatus and smoke simulator visors. In 'Self Portrait '08' I put on the breathing apparatus and tried to find the toilet whilst effectively blindfolded.
