Thanks for sharing this film, it's excellent. Really good story with nice twists. I also liked the look of the Super 8 footage, it adds to the atmosphere and fits the story very well.

Really enjoyed it, as Joachim says bit of a level problem with phone conversation with Doc. I would probably cut some of the Bench scene in Paris and fade down earlier on the Doctor with the wife. But little things, I enjoyed it.

instead of the format running from top to bottom of screen having some simple animation like split screen or simply squaring them off and having them appear in different parts of the screen would give it that extra dynamism.
    All the best,

    Hi Miriam,

Watched your film and really liked it, nice editing. I'm in edit for my film as well so here are a couple of things which I feel would help me: I found the paris scene (and especially the bench scene) are too long. Once we get the point that he hooks up with the girl, I feel we need to move on, however tempting it is to leave the beautiful shots in of the Eiffel tower... Sound wise, the mix could be better at times (when he calls the doctor from Paris for instance - the filter on the doctor sounds too immediate and too close and the main character is not very comprehensible) but these are minor points.
I only watched it once but these are the things that I noticed. I laughed in the beginning (the boxes at the doctor's and in the end when he calls the doctor). Nice work on the Amelie-eske music and on the super 8 mm. One more thing: also liked the collage of stills, felt it could be better esthetically and instead of the format running from top to bottom of screen having som

About this film

Doctor's Orders is a comedy about how tempting it is to put your life into someone else's hands and let them make the decisions for you. I wrote it when I was feeling a little jaded and cynical about love. I hope it is quite fast paced and not too boring to watch. It stars my two favourite funny men, Albion Gray and Mark Restuccia who are very successful stand up comics so I was really grateful for their help on this. It also stars my housemates Brin and Jenny :) They told me in the pub to put them in it and I'd had a few so I agreed.I filmed some of it on a Beaulieu Super8 Camera. In one shot I am walking backwards to capture the sun streaming through the trees on the lovers in Paris... and I fell bum first into a fountain, but saved the camera!!!I hope you enjoy- all comments welcome I have a thick skin ;)
