Influenced by a combination of family photographs and an interest in the macabre pulp serials of the Victorian era, 'The Tragic Penny Dreadfuls of the Family Byrne' relates the twisted & surreal tales of the Byrne family and the comedic yet at times disturbing characters that make up its lineage.Began as an exercise to highlight the directors own lack of a family history, the film has since grown into its own palpable mythos, where fact and fiction are as ambiguous as fantasy and reality.
