This rough short was made for Doctors Worldwide, an NGO of volunteer doctors who respond to global emergencies. It was filmed at the Khesgi Refugee Camp in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province. Khesgi became an ad-hoc village comprised of Afghan refugees from the Russian wars. In the floods that struck Pakistan in 2010, Khesgi was washed away. The camp you see here was established further up a slope. Although most floodwater has receded from the region, you can still find pools of standing water at Khesgi.Apart from seeing to the basic healthcare for the 200 families that live here, Doctors Worldwide distributes cooked food and has installed deep-bore water wells. They would like to do more, but the Pakistani government has told NGOs they cannot fully operate in Afghan refugee camps as they are not "Pakistani affectees".* This film will comprise a longer piece to promote the work Doctors Worldwide does in Pakistan - which goes beyond medicine. Doctors Worldwide are more than just doctors. If you would like to donate or volunteer, please go to: http://doctorsworldwide.org/
