Shooters Q&A

Films I wish I had made

Loving Vincent (2017), Evan Almighty (2007), Mon Meilleur Ami (2006), Material Girls (2006), Kicking and Screaming (2005), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Uncle Buck (1989), Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), Smoke Signals (1998), Cool Runnings (1993), Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), Peewee's Big Adventure (1985), Ghostbusters (1984), The Time Machine (1960), Les quatre cents coups (1959), Mon Oncle (1958), Bringing Up Baby (1938), Laurel and Hardy Beau Hunks (1931), The General (1926), almost any Studio Ghibli film, anything Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton.

I cried watching

Grave of the Fireflies

I left the cinema during

Pulp Fiction, Dazed and Confused, Triumph of the Will, Mortdecai, Battleship Potemkin, Chien Andalou, Avengers Assemble, Lego Ninjago, Victoria and Abdul, Dune, short films, Kes, a lot of other documentaries are boring too.

Directors I love

Stan Laurel, M. Night Shyamalan, Roberto Benigni, John Patrick Shanley, Charlie Chaplin, (and, because there's no producer section: Kathleen Kennedy and Alexander Korda)

Actors I admire

William Shakespeare, Lucille Ball, Moliere, John Candy, Stanley Laurel

Writers I respect

Bill Watterson, Emma Orczy, Joseph Conrad, Publius Terentius Afer (Terence)

My desert island discs

Songs, like fish, get old after three days. I love most songs the first three times I hear them.

Books I have given my friends

Please, don't adapt them!

My death row meal

Electric chair? Condensed milk. Hanging? Lasagne. Firing squad? Lots and lots of raspberries. It depends on the mode of execution, whatever would create the biggest spectacle. Maybe something oozing with green slime.

The best thing I own

Imagination

More about me

I write and act for money. Sometimes I work on spec, the way an architect might create a speculative blueprint, a painter might create a speculative artwork, or an engineer might design something before knowing the market. In that case, I hold out for more money.
