Looking for psychological horror short film/s to complete a Portmanteau Indie feature

Looking for psychological horror short film/s to complete a Portmanteau Indie feature.

For your reference I have attached a Vimeo link to an eight minute psychological horror film entitled "Afraid of the Dark" (one of six, or possibly seven, that will make up the forthcoming British Indie feature "Run Hide Tell" (2018).

Looking forward to hearing from you

Many thanks Ray Brady

  • Hey Ray,

Are you looking for completed films? Or are you looking for ideas for short films to then shoot?

If you're looking for scripts to shoot, make sure you check out SP's Script Pitch. You can find loads of script ideas there: shootingpeople.org/scriptpitch/

Script Pitch is where screenwriters can pitch their scripts directly to directors and producers, so it might be useful for you.

  • Hi Xenia, many thanks for that. Ideally I was looking for either completed or nearly finished films, 4K in quality. May post in the not too distant future for scripts, when and if I will most definitely use the scriptpitch forum. Please accept my apologies for not being clearer originally.
    Regards Ray

  • Hi Dean,
Generally he lower the originating format quality the more limited the sales and distribution potential is, there are exceptions to this rule but they are rare and usually very exceptional. People have shot low budget films in low image quality formats like Pixelvision (using a children's toy camera), DV, Super 8 etc or even iPhone (Sean Baker's superb "Tangerine") and gone on to have a theatrical release, broadcast and a wide rental, PPV and Bluray/DVD release, but in truth it's less than one film a year from the thousands of low budget indie feature films now shot every year, that manages this, so setting a quality entry benchmark of 4K is for practicality. I would like to look any films shot on any format as potentially films can be up-resing to 4K or even maybe reshot. So watching a HD film, yes please.

  • Hi Flaminia,
Better than 4K is not an issue. Would love to see what you've managed to create?

  • Would you be interested in this film, shot in China by Hugo Tickler and scripted by myself? vimeo.com/110480017

    • Hi Hugo,
In regard to the footage of classic film "Badlands" by Terrence Malick (one of my personal favourite films by the way), can you confirm that you got clearance to include the excerpts of footage please, or if not, at least shot some covering shots with cleared footage please?
      Many thanks
      Kindest regards Ray

  • Hi Stuart,
Yes I did receive your message thank you. My original posting was a bit vague, which I have tried to amend sorry. I was really intending to try and attract completed short films. After receiving several requests to send scripts, and thinking that I might not find any suitable finished shorts, calling for scripts would be my second position which may yet be necessary, but I'm not quite there yet as I'm still awaiting replies. I promise that I will get back to you if I do not close in on at least two completed shorts in the next couple of weeks. I do not want to commit to reading scripts at this present time as a process will start that will inevitably lead to a much longer completion plan, which I'm presently trying my best, at least for now to avoid. I was was trying not to reject any possibilities at this time, thus my prevarication.
    Many thanks Ray Brady

  • Many thanks for all the films sent in by Shooters. Greatly appreciated, one and all, now beginning to close in on the final selection, two films now locked, but still looking to close on at least one or two more. Sorry but please no more films with unlicensed content, it really breaks my heart heart to see a good film only for it to fall away from possible consideration because the film maker hasn't taken the time to get the proper clearances, for script, image or clip content. Planning now to premier the completed feature early next year. More anon.

  • Last call out for completed Horror shorts. Please forward viewing links asap. No scripts please, just completed horror shorts that have in place all necessary clearances please. Sadly more half submitted of the films forwarded contained either unlicensed script, images, music, footage which meant that we were unable to consider them further.
PS HD quality is fine, 4K no longer a necessary prerequisite as we can arrange to upses if required by Distributors.
    Many thanks
