  • Macbeth in the White House

With spin doctors for witches, campaign managers for thanes, vice-presidents for princes and presidents for kings this is a timely update of Shakespeare’s classic play to contemporary Washington. The era may have changed but slimy politicians and the corruption of power remain. Shakespeare’s dialogue combines perfectly with modern politics to capture contemporary malaise and voter alienation, plus politicians have always spoken a different language to everyone else. As a good man ruined by power, Macbeth cannot escape the catch-22 of being unable to implement change without power, but unable to achieve power without being corrupted by it.
There are no real murders, just political deaths. American politicians’ fondness of killing metaphors, along with the prevalence of religion in U.S. politics makes this the ideal setting.

  • Turingland

2060: artificial intelligence rules all. Antigonnie (17) is unique – she’s off-grid, having missed the compulsory operation to put a voice transmitter/tracker into her neck. But... if anyone speaks to her, she’ll be exposed to the surveillance bots. Isolated and trapped in her own home, she is about to hand herself in for the implant.

Then she and her sister hide a young rebel whose transmitter has been removed, and Ant can at last have a real, unconstrained relationship. But who can she trust?

Turingland packs contemporary issues of data-led social manipulation, and timeless themes of teenage isolation and first love, into a twisting SF. It has trilogy potential, and is written for a low-medium budget.
