Events: BAFTA Screenwriters Series

Screenwriters, BAFTA’s lecture series will this year feature screenwriters Mark Boal, Sean Baker, Edgar Wright, Dee Rees and Anthony McCarten.

The 8th edition of BAFTA’s Screenwriters’ Lecture Series, the programme exists to “celebrate screenwriters’ authorial contribution to film, and gives esteemed writers a platform to share highlights and insights from their careers.”

The opening talk, on Friday 17th November, is from Mark Boal, a screenwriter, producer and journalist best known for Kathryn Bigelow’s controversial recent films The Hurt Locker and Detroit. Recent American sensations Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project) and writer-director Dee Rees (Bessie, Pariah, Mudbound). BAFTA-winning British screenwriter, director and producer Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver) should need no introduction. Concluding the series, BAFTA-winning New Zealand-born screenwriter and producer Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything, The Darkest Hour) will deliver his lecture at BAFTA on Saturday 25 November.
