???? February at SP ????
LOOKING FOR WORK IN 2024?
Are you on the hunt for new work for the *wink wink* new year? Our jobs board works quite differently to other jobs boards available. We're community-sourced and run, with a strong diversity of roles available for both experienced and emerging cast and crew.
We wrote this little blog on why to consider SP for filmmaking jobs, so if you're on the fence, have a quick read and see if we're right for you!
SP is also 50% off and as a member of our newsletter, I'll give you the sneaky heads up the discount is actually running until 2nd of February - so grab it before it's gone!
ENDS 2ND FEB

WE ❤️ YOU LSFF
With over 60 shooters screening at LSFF, we KNEW this year was going to be a good one - and of course, NONE of the programme disappointed. It was so great meeting other shooters at the fest and seeing such a diverse array of weird, wacky and brilliant shorts.
We had the pleasure of partnering with LSFF for the Lo-Budget Award so congrats to new shooters Art Wild (HEAVEN) and Katie King (MADE FOR DUTY OVERSEAS) - both films absolutely wowed us.
GO MEMBERS
- 6 shooters are headed off to Berlinale Talents, the prestigious Talent Development Scheme focused on bringing together filmmakers at the Berlinale Festival for an intensive congregation of networking, mentoring and more. Shoutout to Rhea Storr, Alfie Barker, Gorana Jovanović, Michael Graf, Zeb Achonu and Maryam Tafakory.
- From Sophie Ellis-Bextor lined up to perform ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ (GO WATCH SALTBURN) to Barbie Snubs, this year’s BAFTAs are set to be a truly great. Congrats to the 31 shooters who worked on nominated films including Festival of Slaps, Jellyfish and Lobster, Such A Lovely Day, Yellow and more.
GO LOOK
- Is the tide finally turning on Amazon Studios? ‘Road House’ Director Doug Liman boycotts the SXSW premiere to protest crass decisions for a streamer release - “Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting cinemas, and then they turned around and are using Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.”
- The recent Film & TV Charity ‘Money Matters’ report makes for some pretty harrowing reading - but at least we’re all in the same boat together. YOU’RE NOT ALONE IN THIS!
- “No writer Barbie. No grip Barbie. No Teamster Barbie. No key set PA Barbie who has to go into Movie Star Barbie’s trailer and tell the delicate flower to get the fuck down to set because 120 other pissed-off Barbie’s are waiting for her. That film taught Mattel nothing.” - safe to say the ‘Women in Film’ barbies went down a treat…
- Andrew Haigh’s latest release ‘All of Us Strangers’ is absolutely smashing the reviews, starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, the film touches on grief, trauma and queerness, all bundled into a supernatural drama dubbed as a career best.
