Making a Feature & Brand New Distribution ????
Join SP for an online Q&A on the new feature film 'Trapping' with TV and film producers Femi Oyeniran, Nicky 'Slimting' Walker & director Penny Woolcock. 'Trapping' (starring British rapper Abra Cadabra in his debut acting role), is produced by two major game changers in film and music. Femi Oyeniran and Nicky 'Slimting' Walker, who co-founded Fan Studio (‘The Evolution of Black British Music’), have multifaceted careers as directors, actors, and producers, as well as running their own record label.
‘Trapping’ sheds unflinching light on the complex reality of county lines drug networks. The film was directed by the BAFTA and Grammy nominated Penny Woolcock, who has consistently crafted narratives throughout her career that push boundaries and defy convention. Join us to learn about their creative processes in the making of ‘Trapping’. Discover how they built a new film distribution platform, dedicated to promoting underrepresented talent and stories. Whether you're a filmmaker, a music fan, or storyteller, come, ask questions and be inspired by a project pushing new ideas about storytelling and the future of film. ‘Trapping’ is available to rent and watch on The Drop now - check it out. ????

✨New Shoots Actors Awards Winner ✨
Congratulations to the brilliant Tiggy Bayley, who is the winner of this year’s New Shoots Actors Awards. Tiggy is a performer, writer and director who often creates her own work. Tiggy is represented by Curtis Brown, is a beloved presence on TikTok for her self-written monologues, and her most recent short film has been shown at festivals globally. She is currently working on her debut feature film, ‘Tildypops’, which was selected for development by Torino Film Lab Next Comedy 2022.
“I think in terms of storytelling the best advice I’ve had is to start from a place of truth – what is your unique perspective on the world, what do you have to say that is true about this world and then go from there ... The first draft is always s***, but just write it anyway! I think that applies to acting too, don’t waste time thinking about whether or not you're good, just go for it.” - Tiggy Bayley
Along with this year's runners-up, Elinor Coleman and Jason Hall, Tiggy will receive mentoring from casting director Des Hamilton (Jojo Rabbit, This is England, High Life), free Spotlight memberships, a cash prize, and more to support their careers as performers. If you’re casting a project, make sure you look into the New Shoots Actors Awards shortlist.
