GO MEMBERS
- SP joined the First Flights pitching show and put on a drinks social last week with the LSFF. A huge 29 Shooters screened this year + special congrats to Arwa Aburawa, whose short 'And Still, It Remains' won Best Documentary. This powerful, urgent film explores the lasting impact of French nuclear testing on an Algerian village, weaving voices of its residents with the landscape’s own story.
- Awards season is in full swing, and the BAFTA shortlist is out… 27 Shooters have been nominated, including 'Kneecap' co-writer/director Rich Peppiatt with four nominations. Rich has been a member for many years and got in touch to say he really appreciates all the love for the film :) A must checkout if you haven’t yet! Plus, two shooters’ films are up for Best British Short - Matty Crawford’s 'Stomach Bug' and Franz Böhm’s 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'.The awards are announced on the 16th of Feb ????????????????????????
GO LOOK
- #SaveThePrinceCharles - London’s legendary PCC is under threat, with its landlords pushing for a break clause that could force it to close. From shagging rabbits to plastic spoons, the PCC has always been a vital venue for cinephiles. They're not going down without a fight - help sign the petition.
- THANK YOU, DAVID LYNCH: For breaking the rules, embracing the weird, and making the dreamiest nightmares cinema has ever seen. For the daily LA weather reports (a forecast we didn’t know we needed). And, oh god… thank you for Twin Peaks.
- Share your knowledge! Know of independent cinemas/venues that could help screen a Shooters film, for not much ££ ? Add to other Shooter recommends.
- Bad Bunny's stepping into film...? The Puerto Rican superstar co-directed and co-wrote the short 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos' with Arí Maniel Cruz Suárez, starring Puerto Rican film director Jacobo Morales and a cartoon frog named Concho. Genuinely cool or just a marketing gimmick?
- Blenders always been a great program for indie animators, and the recently Oscar-nominated 'Flow' was entirely made in it. Learn from the creators, and check out the public water plug-in they've made available. (Disney would never do this).
