the flock (2015)

About: “It’s not a life for everybody, I must admit, but I like it.”

When Kim met Chris - a local shepherd - through online dating, she had no idea what she had let herself in for. Within weeks she was up to her knees in ewes, snow, milk bottles and orphan lambs.

Three years on, and Kim is an integral part of the farm life, living and working side by side with Chris, their seven dogs, and two thousand sheep. Her flock. Experience the beautiful brutality, and the real joys and heartbreak of rural working life in one of the strangest and most beguiling parts of the UK: Romney Marsh in Kent.

This unique salty marsh is home to a special breed of sheep: sturdy, resilient, long wooled, and intelligent. These sheep have quickly become Kim’s largest collection of pets.

Through Kim's eyes lets meet this sheep-centric family, and discover what it really means to be a shepherd.

This film was shot on a Cannon 5d mkII and an IPhone 6.
