Technical Skills |
Handheld, fly-on-the-wall shooting with pro-camcorders, or more cinematic takes using DSLRs with or without external recorders, using interchangeable lenses (including some vintage gems); stabilised, slider, dolly and zolly shots. Lighting for mood or function; location sound recording; Final Cut X editor on a Mac Pro (but also Premier editor, sometimes), able to produce motion graphics and some VFX. Fluent in Photoshop, Storyboarder, Sketch and Axure RP 9, with a good understanding of UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) Design. |

Main shooting kit includes Canon XF305 (BBC approved, broadcast quality documentary workhorse) and the cinematic GH5, along with lenses like the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0, G Vario 45-200 and a range of vintage lenses with unique character. Sound kit includes Rode NTG1 shotgun mic, the reliable Sennheiser radio mics and Rode Wireless Go. Lighting kit (studio and portable LED options) and two green screens. Experience working with skeleton crews and self-shoot; multiple and single camera projects; working on tight deadlines and stringent budgets. Shooting and wrangling MXF, XD Cam or tape. On the ball with documentation (forms, disclaimers, floor plans). Experience managing large teams. Experience training/teaching at corporate and university level. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, but wouldn’t starve in a French-speaking country either. |
