About Me:

Technical Skills: AVID certified editor

Biography:

I'm a jack of all trades, master of some. As a director I made a short called Callum, which screened at 26 Festivals, won 15 awards and was long-listed for a BAFTA. I then produced a short film called INDEPENDENCE with the BFI/Film London, which opened at the London Film Festival in 2023. I have recently trained as an editor, so I am looking to build my portfolio in this new area.

My Work and Credits:

Independence

About: Funded by the BFI Network & Film London INDEPENDENCE is the story of a young girl taking her first steps out of the care system and into independent living. The film premiered at BAFTA qualifying London Film Festival 2023 and has earned director Karl Jackson recognition as a Film London Lodestar "Director to watch".

Fun stuff:

Films I wish I had made:

Anything by John Carpenter.

I cried watching:

Inside Out, so no way am I watching the sequel.

I left the cinema during:

Righteous Kill - DeNiro and Pacino back on screen for the first time since Heat and... yeah, not great.

Directors I love:

Michael Mann (when he was on his legendary run), Tony Scott (Legend), throw in a bit of Malick and a dash of DePalma.

Actors I admire:

I love the actors who make you sit up when they appear, Tom Wilkinson was one of those for me.

Writers I Respect:

Aaron Sorkin, Shane Black for their heightened, rhythmic dialogue. Martin McDonagh excels at that too.

My desert island discs:

Kate Bush.

Books I have given my friends:

Yeah, I'm not really a book trader I'm a book keeper.

My death row meal:

Laksa.

The best thing I own:

Boring answer, but it's really incredible what our consumer filmmaking tech can do these days, so all of that.

My favourite bridge:

That's a deeply personal question and I'm insulted you would even ask.
