The Campaigner (2012)

About: The Campaigner is a short documentary about Joyce Brand, a 78-year old who campaigns – in sometimes outrageous ways – on local issues in her home town in Shropshire.

Joyce also happens to be my Grandmother, which is why I'm aware of her rather wild ways and I wanted to share her with the rest of the world. So often older women aren't given a voice on our screens, or they're shown to be quiet passive individuals. I love that this film presents a feisty, engaged and intellectual older woman who is politically active and doesn't conform to society's stereotypes.
