Synopsis:
Set in the near future on Spain’s Costa del Sol, “Personhood” follows Waylen, a lonely, physically challenged man who purchases Gala, a stunning AI companion robot. As he struggles with his own insecurities and inability to connect, Waylen’s relationship with Gala develops in unexpected ways, but the arrival of Waylen’s charming younger brother threatens to unravel everything. Exploring the blurred line between programming and free will, love and loneliness, “Personhood” is a haunting and provocative sci-fi drama that asks: if an AI says she loves you how do you know it is not the truth?
