Can you spot on-the-nose lines and expositional dialogue? Do you inadvertently put clunky lines in your characters’ mouths or find yourself over-writing what you want them to say? Do your characters speak with distinctive voices or are their lines pretty much interchangeable?
Even the most fantastic story bursting with colourful characters is unlikely to make it past the first post if your dialogue doesn’t ring true.
It has to fly off the page!
