BAR TRASH – DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING (Hackney)
BAR TRASH – DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING (Hackney)
BAR TRASH celebrates our 3rd year and 10th sensational season with WE ARE TRASH!, a fan-made mixtape of cult and chaotic cinema (May to Aug 2025).
DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING combines two audience suggestions into one: more world cinema (☑) and more banned films (☑). From ‘the godfather of gore’, Lucio Fulci (THE BEYOND, ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS), DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING is a stylish murder mystery ‘giallo’ that we are screening in its original Italian. The film might not have been banned as a Video Nasty in the UK but it was deemed to be so shocking that it was denied a wide global release.
A gripping and unsettling thriller that exposes moral panic, conspiracies and scapegoating in a corrupt conservative community, DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING features brutal violence amidst disturbing themes of misogyny, mental health, child murder, and paedophilia that are critical of the Catholic Church. DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING is widely regarded today as Fulci’s greatest film, rivalling the best of Dario Argento.
