An anthology of 22 Palestinian short films on life in Gaza over the past year.

From Ground Zero: Stories from Gaza is a staggering achievement. Pulled out of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, after initial acceptance, this newly released film is a testament to the power of art in the face of political suppression. Palestine’s official entry to the 2025 Academy Awards is also a cinematic cry for humanity from a people under siege, facing extreme hunger, systematic destruction and nonstop attack in a genocide still unfolding.

Director Rashid Masharawi brought together 22 short films (3 to 6 minutes long) giving a far-reaching portrait of the past year. Palestinian filmmakers worked inside Gaza, reflecting the complexity of their culture and imagination: fiction, documentary, animation, humour, surrealism, profound grief and poetry. Against all odds, this anthology proclaims that the voices of Palestine – through film, memory and art – are not only alive but cannot be ignored.
