Adobe Premier Elements

11 years, 6 months ago - Michael Doyle

Hey guys!

Thoughts on using premier elements for editing my HD DSLR footage? ive been using elements for years with my old DV technology and im comfortable with it, but with an upgrade of kit (DLSR HD) Id like to continue using elements, but which version? 11?
on a budget premier pro etc are a huge slab of cash for me at the moment, and all i doing is basic cutting, but I just need to know if elements support High quality raw HD footage

Thanks shooters!

Mike

I haven't used Elements since I was a teenager, and to be honest I didn't know they still made it! No doubt your DLSR footage would go in fine - but you might want to look at some altenatives, seeing as your upgrading your camera kit you might want to consider upgrading your choice of software. Even if you only do simple cutting now it might make life a bit easier and allow you to try bigger and better things going forward.
Lightworks is by far the best free option out there, and is even used to cut big-budget features:

The free version doesn't give you all codec options, so you'll have to transcode your H264 files but even the Pro version is extremely cheap.
