INDEXAdvice on Handbrake - creating "Apple TV3" m4v file

A short film I made is currently being submitted to festivals. One American festival has asked that I use the program "Handbrake" to convert the film in to an "Apple TV 3" format m4v.
The generic settings for this are 30fps. The sound quality of the finished m4v sounded different to the original film. Background and atoms was louder and it tends to all distort at times. The festival have said the settings can be adjusted as long as it remains in "Apple TV 3" format.
I have tried upping the bit rate to maximum and changing the frame rate back to 25fps, but the sound is still problematic. Does anyone have any advice?
Many thanks,
Andrew Ryland

Is the sound clipping, or is it compression artefacting? If the latter, look at the audio bitrate which is separate from the video bitrate. 30fps ought to be irrelevant.
