What you're looking for is Negative All Risks insurance (as well as equipment hire insurance, public liability and employers liability) - the costs to reshoot lost footage. You'll need to demonstrate your budget and it can be quite expensive. Integro will offer this.

So you were shooting at an Apple event on phone, they objected and wiped it? I'm not quite sure if that's correct, but insurance would need you to have all permissions to film in the first place plus will want demonstration of your chain of process from acquisition, ingestion, verification, to multiple backups. They simply won't cover the risk of shooting on a consumer level device without a DIT,, etc. It's made even worse by not being able to use SD cards. I think insurance will be of little help to you in this circumstance - the cost of recapturing the Fudge at someone elses event means restaging the event.

This Paddy I was not clear. I had footage which is political in public domain not at an Apple event but due to constant issues with iPhone they decided to take the phone and replace it. I need to see if can get footage from somewhere or yes restating may be an idea had not thought. Urgently need insurance so will call round. Thks

You have to be very careful what you film with your phone/ipad these days. On many big budget productions they put tape over the camera lens at the beginning of the day and, if at the end of the day, the tape looks like it has been tampered with, they take the phone and completely wipe it.
