Aerial Filming in London

8 years, 9 months ago - Ira Giorgetti

How does one go about securing a permit to use a drone in London? Particularly in Kensington and Chelsea. We've got a high end wedding client who is requesting for drone shots but the venue said that we'd have to secure a permit, although they have not specified from where. I'm bracing myself for the exasperated sighs of the many who have tried or want to and are as scared as I am of the answers, haha!

You may get a proper drone operator chime in below, but just in case they don't, you're under 10 miles from Heathrow, pretty much exactly on an approach path, so CAA are likely to have strong opinions. In the circumstances, I'd get a professional drone operator licensed with the CAA who'll manage the airspace and permits for you - it's a high-end client so they can afford it.
