INDEXAmerican actress in London seeking writer/collaborator, either or both
10 years, 3 months ago - Paulina Brahm
Relocated here from NYC, and feeling a bit rootless. I joined SP as I love and support independent film and its ethos, and I am particularly fond of the short film format.
I'm with CCP and Spotlight, but Shooting People allows me to interact directly with film folk and view a myriad of films and genres within a contained site.
I embrace original ideas, or clever rehashed ones, and hope to resonate with future collaborators before my subscription runs out!
I feel a little lost without a good new script, and energized when I am collaborating with a great, living, breathing writer. Or filmmaker.
If this resonates with you, please send a message to me via the SP system. Thank you.
Paulina

Hi Paula,
Thanks for your post. You can post into the bulletins here: https://shootingpeople.org/bulletin/post/1. This is the best way to find people for collaborations. It will go out in our daily bulletins to all members, more people will see it and you should get more of a response.
Best,
Kelie

Hi Paulina,
Hope you're well. I know what it's like to feel a bit rootless in a new city. I hope you make friends here and things work well for you.
I'm a London-based writer/director with a few shorts under my belt, as well as documentaries produced freelance wise for the BBC and ITV.
I'm born in Pakistan but have lived in London since 1970.
It'd be great to make contact with you....sounds exciting to work with an American actress!!
Best,
Azeem Khan

Hello and many, many thanks to everyone who responded here, and via the message system.
I am incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by the generosity of the many talented people who responded.
I have been reading all of your scripts, script outlines, and proposals. It is important to me that I respond (and telephone, if applicable) to everyone, and I will. It will take some time!
All my love and support, and again, many thanks,
Paulina

Hi Shiva!
Thank you for your amazing answer. I lived around the corner from CBGB's and so witnessed the carnage first-hand. However the Gene Frankel Theater, where I learned from the master himself, manages to hang on, surrounded by luxury condos, crazy-expensive boutiques, and foodie destinations.
I will make plans to attend the next Kino event, and thank you so much for the link to London Comedy Writers. I will definitely check them out!
Warmest,
Paulina

Hello Jack, Edozie, and Azeem,
Thank you so much for your wonderful responses, all of you. I will be replying to each of you in the next day or so.
Thank you, Kelie! I appreciate your post. I however must have somehow gotten into the bulletins; I saw my request on my daily bulletin yesterday...!
Warm regards,
Paulina

Hi Paula. Hope you're well.
I'm an independent filmmaker looking for a collaborator... there's one idea hat's been bugging me for about ten years and am looking for the person to help get it out and onto screen. Help!
:-)

Hi Paulina,
I've written a few shorts scripts this year. One is going into production in July. I'd love to send you the others and see if we can collaborate on them, or come up with some new ideas together. My email is edozieameke964@hotmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey, Paulina,
Weclome ot the New York Artis Diaspora. You made the right decision. As you know, the 1% have completely decimated all the venues and studios and performance spaces where we once learned our craft and turned them into luxury condos. Classic example, CBGB's is now a shop selilng $400 handbags. I was dismayed and astounded to discover there is more cutting edge theatre going on in old warehouses on Ventura Boulevard than there is in the shattered remnants of Off-Off Broadway.
The good news is that though London is headed that way, it hasn't reached there yet. There is far greater opportunities in both making and presenting independent film here, and the scene remains much less competitive and far more supportive than across the Pond.
Being from the once great Big Apple, high disclosure is embedded in your genome. So Network! Network! Network!
Attend the events listed this bulletin, especially SP events at various Art Clubs. Kino London also highly recommended (listed in this bulletin). Every session they assemble a production team to make a short film based on outrageous audience suggestions. Join them. And if you're into comedy, suggest you attend the bi-weekly London Comedy Writers meetings (http://www.londoncomedywriters.com). More off-the-wall humor and scathing wit in a few evening hours than an entire week of broadcast television. Typical example of the contrast between London and NYC. All the venue asks is that we buy a minimum of drinks (which three writers could probably meet). The same venue in NYC would cost a minimum of $200, then everyone would have to buy drinks at $7 - $9 a pop.
Welcome to Blighty, and I wish you much, much success in your quest.

Hi Paula, I am a producer based in Portsmouth. I have a few Indie films under my belt and I am currently working with some new Directors. I'd love to have a chat with you and see if there is anything we could mutually put together.
Regards
Jack.
