Here at Mutiny Media we are absolutely delighted to announce the winner of our ‘Ultimate Virtual Reality Competition’.

Congratulations to Angela McArthur!

Her inspirational and unique proposal, ‘Who Am I?’ is a film for VR that uses experimental sound and set design to explore the experience of having Alzheimer’s disease, from a first person perspective.

Angela said ‘This award is a dream because of VR’s inherent imaginative potential and ability to uniquely tackle important issues. VR production requires diverse skills, and is in such a formative state, so I’m working with varied talents, and the excitement is palpable for everyone involved. I’m also grateful to be making a piece of personal significance, and hope it will create further awareness of Alzheimer’s’.

Angela drew inspiration for the project from her mother's journey with Alzheimer’s, and the imaginative possibilities within VR to explore the disappearance of meaning, whilst creating a wider understanding of the disease.
Drawing on theatre’s material set-design traditions, as well as her strong interest in sound design for VR.

Angela’s £8000 Virtual Reality Production Package , includes the use of the GoPro Freedom 360, Angell Sounds Studios, Mutiny Media Editing Suites, an expert programmer from Exzeb, Kolor Autopano Video Editing programme and the unique opportunity to deliver her film through the Purple Pill VR app.
