Any advice on how I go about finding distribution platforms for my first short doc series ?

I have a 25 min rough cut edit of a short documentary series, and I have an funding source who's willing to invest as long as I can convince him the documentary film 25-min series of shorts will have great exposure.

Other than speaking to some relevant charities, and doing a lot of painful googling, I have no idea where to go with this, so any advice would be awesome! My aim is to get it seen by as many people as possible, rather than to make the money back (which would be amazing)

If eyeballs if your metric, YouTube is your platform, with traffic driven through social media campaign, reaching out to the right journos and and perhaps getting the support (promotion to their members) of the various charities and campaign in this field.

If you do that, you really want to produce a few 1-3min mini packages that are Twitter / FB shareable.

Forget about getting any money. Though make sure it's YT monetised, just in case :-)

Thank you Marlom appreciate your prompt response.. I guess my challenge is now to find the folks with the biggest social media reach to piggy back off their campaigns. There's things like Uplift TV and FilmsforAction that I've come across, and a few celebrity you tubers that can give it a shoutout as well as the charities.

I'd forget about about piggybacking. If you start to get trend, they'll be receptive (or notice it themselves). VICE, Buzzfeed and Huff Post might be worth looking at to identify a journo with an interest in the area. They tend to have their Twitter handles so you can reach out direct.
