INDEXAny Canon 7D users had the sound recording die on the camera...? Or just me...?

Hello. My Canon 7D developed an odd fault last year where it won't record films with the SOUND RECORDING ON. If I turn sound recording Off it works fine, no problem with the images. With sound on, the buffer fills up within 10 seconds and the recording stops (and there's no audio on the 10 second clips either). Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you fix it?
Here's a potentially award-winning film of the issue in case it didn't make sense in my description

NB It's NOT
1) the memory cards (i've used many before the fault and they worked fine - have tried several sizes and types since - no diff)
2) the firmware - I've reset the camera and updated the firmware (twice now) so it has the latest including all the new sound options
3) any different with an external mic plugged in - same problem using the internal or external mic
4) anything Canon have been able to help with
I'm assuming an expensive trip to the repair shop to have someone tell me they couldn't find the problem! It must be a software problem though since everything else works fine, and it didn't get thrown on the floor to make it happen??
