INDEXAny DJI Ronin owners in London?

I've just bought my second DJI Ronin. I sent the first one back to the vendor for a refund after DJI told me it must be faulty. It was making unacceptable noise, you see.
This week I bought a used one on ebay and it is also noisy. I find it hard to believe that's how they are supposed to be.
So, would any DJI Ronin owners in London who feel their unit is NOT unacceptably noisy mind if I came round and had a listen? I'll bung you £20 for the trouble.

Get yourself an amazing silent mechanical stabilizer made by Tiffen or GPI Pro. A helicopter gimbal is always going to making that kind of noise if you point a microphone at it.

OK, I'll up the payment - £30 to anyone who'll let me have a listen to their Ronin so that I can compare noise levels with my own unit.

I just checked a DJI forum thread I started months back when I had my first, brand new Ronin. Other people have whinged about the noise too.
Another owner posted a video - he has the same noise, and he's not happy - http://tinyurl.com/o3kolc6
Someone who had been in contact with DJI regarding his noisy Ronin posted this to the forum:
"European Support say [the noise] is generated by the electronics in the battery stem. They suggest that the issue is related to newer builds and that HQ in China has been made aware. I've tried to get an answer as to whether this is a problem and if it will or can be be fixed."
He goes on to quote their last message to him:
"They [China HQ] are currently working on the issue and it will be resolved any time soon.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
Best regards

OK, I don't need to listen to anyone else's Ronin now. I'm now sure DJI let loose a bunch of noisy Ronins. I know for sure mine couldn't be used on a sound set anywhere near a mic.

I currently own both Ronin and M5 (ronin is making way this week). And it's definitely not that noisy.
I bought it almost as soon as it landed in the UK (last summer), so I guess it's an earlier model?
I'm Bristol based so meeting up would be tricky, but I could probably put together an audio sample before it goes if you like.

Sorry folks, but I know all about setting them up.
Both the Ronins I've owned make noise even with the motors killed, which is very puzzling. DJI asked me to make a video of the problem with the first one, which I did. When they viewed it they described my unit as "uniquely faulty" and instructed me to send it to their plant in Germany for repair. Instead I returned it to the vendor in Norfolk for refund.
Here is the vid I made for DJI - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDdqmTtfZE8
Now, I could just astronomically unlucky and the second one I bought, used on ebay, might actually be the same unit that I bought new and returned to the shop. The shop might have sold it to someone else who then sold it on ebay... to me. That would be at about my luck level, I suppose. I have asked my ebay seller where he got it from, but there has been no response.
I wish to listen to someone else's Ronin - any takers?

If you touch the camera is it vibrating when making the noise? If so you need to use the lens support and make sure nothing on the camera is loose.
Also look at your app how hard are your motors working because if it's properly balanced they shouldn't be doing a great deal...
Who knows you may just be really unlucky but I'd put my money on the noise you're hearing being due to the setup.

Watched your video, I don't know about motor kill but mine makes that noise during normal operation, with a 5Dmk3 with mk2 24-70mm and with a A7S with the same lens. Cant remember what the movi was like but I think I remember it making similar sound. I wasn't worried about the sound.

The Ronin is virtually silent - at most it has a gentle hiss when properly set up. There are two likely issues: your camera isn't properly balanced, and you need to use the DJI ronin app to auto tune stability. The latter of these adjusts the strength of the motors according to your specific setup. (You should do this every time your setup's weight changes, e.g. With lens changes etc.).

Thanks Tim, but I now feel I don't need any more conformation that my Ronin is problematically noisy. Just like my first one. Ho hum.

I don't live in London but it shouldn't make much more noise that a laptop fan, it's not silent
