Any drama writers out there wanting collaboration?

10 years ago - Katie Smith

Hey guys,

I'm a director looking for a screenwriter who specialises in hard-hitting drama focusing on key topics such as (loneliness, LGBTQ+, elderly) who may be up for a collaboration? Ideally I want to read scripts that don't have lots of locations or lots of characters and can be made to a high-standard on a low budget - however, it'll be great to utilise beautiful locations such as the Yorkshire Moors, or empty beaches - space and landscape are really important to me so if any of your drama's are outside or feature anything outside, I'd be very interested in hearing from you :)

I've got a couple of films in the pipeline already but would love to work with someone who has a short and very raw/gritty/emotional short script, MAX 10 pages that could do well in festivals.

My last film trailer can be viewed here so you get an idea for my style: https://vimeo.com/128000236

Thanks all and look forward to hearing from anyone :)

Hi Katie,

My name is Pooja Shivdasani and I am a marketing professional turned writer based out of India.

I quit the corporate world about four and a half years ago and have been pursuing scriptwriting. During the last four years I was selected for two script development workshops - one was an Indo German initiative and the other was under the aegis of National Film Development Corporation, India.

Currently am tightening my feature film script and hope to be pitch ready by the end of the year. In the interim I have been working on shorts. I now have a short short (under 10 minutes) ready and I am currently looking for people to collaborate with, so your post could not have come at a better time :-).

The short is a drama titled The Watch Guard - an emotional story, can be shot in the open, very few characters and locations. I have seen the trailer of Crossroads, think its great and feel there is a good chance you would like Watch Guard.

I am happy to send you the screenplay should you like to consider collaborating. You could also look up my detailed profile on: http://www.hascoconsulting.com/index.php/profile

Look forward to hearing from you.

Warm Regards,
Pooja

H Katie,

I've just seen your trailer for Crossroads. Very impressive.
I'm an aspiring film-maker but haven't got far with the film-making so I've been concentrating on
writing. For an example of my writing go to www.groundworkpictures.com and click on "The Rejection."
to see a short film that I wrote.
You say that you are looking for some quality short scripts. I have a couple that you are welcome to
take a look at.

Synopsis - "The value of a degree."
A young man, Ralph, has left university with a business studies degree but has been unable
to find a job. He has had no interviews and has even been turned down for shelf-stacking.
Feeling that he has wasted three years of his life and racked up thousands of poundsworth
of debt in the process he becomes depressed. Then, just when things seem darkest, he gets a
peculiar job offer.
This is a topical script which questions the value of a degree in today`s society where there are so
many graduates who find that degrees do not necessarily guarantee a bright future.
The script, "A bright future," is seven pages long with a small number of characters and locations.

Synopsis - "Loverboy."
An elderly man searches the internet for love. He thinks he has found it when he starts contacting
a bikini model in her twenties. He arranges to meet her in hotel room. When he gets to the room he
finds that she isn`t there but someone else is.
This is a short script, sixteen pages long, that is based on the true case of Professor Paul Frampton,
who thought he was contacting a bikini model but was instead being scammed. He ended up being
tricked into carrying drugs and is now serving time in an Argentinian prison.

If you are interested in reading either or both of these scripts please contact me
at mattclayton55@hotmail.com

Matt

I'd be interested. I've got a nice little short film script called 'Paid in Full' - based on a true story about an old lady who wants to pay an old debt before she expires from cancer. One of those sad but sweet stories where the truth is stranger than fiction. It won a Zoetrope Writer's award for best short ;-) ... nice to get accolade from peers (writers). I have had one feature film made and currently in post-production (about Dementia) and a short, 'Mirror God' about a shot-gun wedding which was shown at festivals in the UK and US. Hi Katie,

I've just finished writing and directing a short film. A psychological drama. I'd rather you read the script and then decided if you like my style and I could write you another! Send me your email or email me so I can send you the script. It's called The Vault and I think it'll do well at festivals. My email is: 07763685788
