Anyone happen to have cleared tour de france archive footage before?

Looking for footage from the tour de france in the late 80s, early 90s and wondering if anyone's looked into it before? Do the french broadcasters hold the rights to a lot of the live feed footage?
Any tips would be welcome. Thanks. Sherif.

I would be surprised if the rights aren't closely controlled by 1) the broadcasters and possibly 2) the production company (much like the Olympics).

I'd start by thinking what scenes you need, and requesting them specifically, they may do a non-commercial rate for just odd clips.
