Anyone know of a Piano/Location with a Piano we can shoot with for a short film?

6 years, 1 month ago - Lee Morgan

Hey,

We're looking to shoot a short comedy film/sketch sometime this month or soon after. It all revolves around a piano (small, large it doesn't matter) and have been constantly stumped in regards to securing a location or a piano to use.

Any help appreciated. It's a great script written by a comedy scriptwriter friend of ours but is being self-funded so as close to nothing in terms of cost would be great but we're not opposed to reaching into our pockets if need be for the right locale.

There are three cast members total and can't see us needing more than two days at the absolute most to get everything in the can.

Hopefully y'all can help!

Best,

Does it have to be a grand piano? I would suggest contacting some mid-level recording studios where you can see their spaces online and if the spaces would work. It would not be for free of course but you may be able to get in mornings or midnight to 8 am for a low rate somewhere.

I remember looking in to using the hall behind the library on Stoke Newington Church Street (not the town hall) once upon a time; they have a piano in there. It's often open as a gallery space, but is more of an assembly hall (with a stage, etc.).

Hi, I am an actress, but I also run Walkers Locations- offering U.K. homes and commercial premises for all types of filming and photography - we have an Instagram page but not all the homes /premises are uploaded Instagram.com/walkers_locations - we can also find places for people if the ones we represent don’t fit. You can call me or text on 07545499254 or email fran@generatepr.co.uk and I can try and help you ? Thanks

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the replies and help so far.

George - It doesn't need to be a grand piano no. That's a great idea actually, can't believe I didn't think of that seeing as I shoot promos for several young talent schools in exactly these sorts of locations. Roughly £20 an hour for various ones around London which isn't bad really.

Sam - Thanks for that, if I'm looking at the correct place on Google then again that may very well be an option if it's possible.

Fran - Again, that's great. We may actually have some bigger, 'proper' shoots budgeted coming out which we may well call upon your services for. I'll connect on instagram and remember to note down your details. Finding suitable and great locations always seems to be the hardest part for me when filmmaking! Suppose one should never pass up a networking opportunity either so if you ever need promo films/ads for your business don't hesitate to get in touch!

Terry - This sounds amazing. Weirdly I've just got back two days ago from France for a shoot out there. Made me think about branching out and thinking bigger for shoots and how it'd be great for the reel to have more shoots around the world. So any excuse to film abroad I'm all for currently. May be a bit much for what this shoot currently is though, mainly a quick something to do over a spare few days to keep our filmmaking eye in and freshen up our portfolio. However, some adjustments to the script and maybe sourcing local actors to Paris and it could very well work. Will think on if we're up for budgeting for that as it sounds, and looks if my Googling is on point, an amazing location.

Thanks again all! Please do keep in touch should my skills ever be of use to you.
