Anyone need a DCP made?

10 years, 1 month ago - William Allum

Hi guys, I have experience in making DCPs, both long and short form. I'm currently trying to expand my freelance work, so if anyone is interested I am very reasonable. Please PM me for more details / quotes, I am London based. Feel free to ask more questions here as well.

Hi William,

I may require a DCP for my short film. It's circulating film festivals now and if its selected I'm certain festivals then a DCP is required. The film is 14mins long, Black and White shot in 2K red and has english subtitles. What will be the cost to have a DCP for this?

kind regards,

Khurum

Hey Khurum and Karel, I've just sent you private messages.

Kelie, thanks very much. New here so still learning how everything works here, I'll give that a try soon.

William, how do you transfer large DCPs?

I create mine on a Mac with OpenDCP, and they run OK on Fraunhoefer's (bet I spelt that wrong) DCP PLayer. However when I zip them up I get a problem with the larger files when sending to anyone with a PC. They can't open them properly. No probs with folks with Macs, and only happens with large files, like 6GB. This isn't helped any by folks like JumboMail and MegaUpload mis-reporting the file size, even though it's intact!

I'm experimenting with .7z files now, but it's slow - each upload takes 15 hours!

Any suggestions?
