Are there any independent filmmaker magazines in the UK?

11 years, 8 months ago - Shaun Bond

I noticed the US has 'FilmMaker' magazine and 'MovieMaker' magazine, physical and digital magazines which discuss festivals/ competitions, up and coming talent as well as hints and tips for young film makers.

Does the UK have anything similar? If not, there should be.

Whilst I could subscribe to the US magazines digitally for not much cost, I would much prefer to here about up and coming talent from my homeland and festivals that are nearer to me. Any suggestions?

Thanks

MovieScope ticks the box. Print and online, "From Pre-Production to Distribution and Exhibition, we cover the process and business of international movie making from an insider's P.O.V. "

Obviously MovieScope yes... but also the guys at super-independent GORILLA have published a few issues.
We still have a few at Cannes in a Van or check out their site http://gorillafilmmagazine.com.
The issue is the relatively small market vs distribution unfortunately.

I've just started seeing digital filmmaking magazines in W.H.Smith's lately - the lack of filmmaking mags has frustrated me for a long time too, as there's tonnes of photography mags out there. I haven't checked out the digital filmmmaking one yet, but perhaps there's a copy somewhere near you?

Digital Filmmaker is good for that. Found it in WHSmith too.
