There are many Scottish members of SP but of course that is just a subset of the broader activity up here. Try https://www.facebook.com/groups/scottishfilmmakersandactors/ for a broader group (including zillions of actors and one-man indie people), and http://scottishscreenwriters.ning.com/ .
Both are clubs that you have to join - there is no fee. Membership 6.800 and 765 respectively!

Thanks Alan...good to hear from you again. I just won an award for best UK documentary at a festival in London. It's for my latest feature doc called Iboga Nights.
My advice is to keep the day job and work on your films in your spare time. To make a living out of documentary you'd have to sell out to making the kind of crap that's regularly broadcast on BBC Scotland. I can't wait for the day that the old dinosaurs who run that institution are replaced.

Hello! :) My name is Alan, I am a Camera Operator/Videographer based in Edinburgh. I started making my own films then trained at College and University before trying out working freelance. Work dried up and I'm working in a tax office at the moment.. trying to steer back on course. Interested in gaining more work within production crews, experimenting with online video production and sound recording.
Thumbs up to David Graham who I've bumped into at the Glasgow Film Theatre and outside the Scottish Parliament.

Hi Terry - I know we do have some Scottish members - where are you based? I worked with Ainslie Henderson last year who's a really talented animator in Edinburgh, and we've also hosted events At Edinburgh and Glasgow Film Fests recently too.
I think it may be that Scottish members have just missed your discussion, please don't give up hope! We also have Shooters in the Pub networking events in Scotland, where you can meet fellow filmmakers, so let me know where you are and I'll try to hook you up more.

Hello! Glasgow based shooter here (c100 + ninja blade for broadcast hd)
SP does seem to be very London based. A pet peeve of mine is when posts for crew don't even bother to list the location / city. I just assume it's London when they don't list a city.

Hi Terry, I'm a Scottish documentary filmmaker working between Glasgow and the Highlands. I do hear you on London-centric SP happenings (I also get extremely irked by lack of 'location' on job listings, as I'm sure all non-London based filmmakers do), but I also enjoy being a part of SP for the discussions, resources, and immense helpfulness of folk when I'm in need of some advice. I'm sure there is a Scottish Shooters in the Pub once a month which I keep intending to go to and keep missing, but still have every intention of making the next one!

Hey, I signed up to SP a few months ago but I have just seen this post. I live and work in Edinburgh and would be interested in helping out in anyway with Scottish projects.
I was told by a couple of friends SP was the best way to make contacts and find like-minded people. I am almost a complete rookie with a tiny bit of screenwriting and short-filmmaking experience but would really like to hear from anyone needing an extra body for any work they are doing.
Is shooters in the pub also worth going along too?
Thanks
Adam

Hi Terry - I'm an actor based in the central area so you could make a film with a cast of at least one!

I take it that the silence to that question means there are none..... ah well... I don't see the point of being apart of something that only happens in London. I think I'll be cancelling my membership.
I remember when SP began all those years ago, I was a film student and there was a buzz about it. Now it seems that if a person isn't in the London area then you don't exist.
If there are people who disagree with this opinion please come onboard and say something, I value all discussion as positive.
