I am looking for some HD aerial footage of droylsden, Manchester. It's for use in an independently made long form documentary, about an independent film-maker.
There's no budget, but will be a credit.
Thanks.

If you're desperate, on the high street today I saw a quad copter with camera for £39.99 (Hoyles, I'm sure there are others). It'll be shit of course, but may give you just a bit of extra height which you can make do. A professional outfit would be closer to £1300+VAT for a day, so it's a steal if you can.
That said, aerial footage is looking so overused now - a few years back it added production 'wow', now it looks cheap and unimaginative if not used delicately!

Cheers, but i'm going to need HD. I agree it is overused at the moment, but the area is quite busy, with the trams etc and is difficult to gauge from the ground. I suppose the other option would be a timelapse from the top of a building would work as well.

The problem is that good quality drone material needs quite a sizeable drone for a good camera, and that means CAA regulations about flying over populated airspace, road closures, etc.
Your timelapse idea is probably more reliably good quality - again, well-used, but with a little tilt-shift you can certainly create an interesting visual mood. Depends what your theme is, I guess ;-)

It's virtually the opening image of a doc about an actor and aspiring film-maker trying to create an epic scifi fantasy film - and the struggles etc etc. I've got some nice footage of a viking battle, and it was just done with a DJI phantom and a gopro. And to be fair, it's very good. The drone hovers as if on a crane. The movement's also very good and quite dramatic looking. I want it as Droylsden is like a big busy street more than an area, think it's because of the trams. So I think a nice moving shot down the main stretch would be nice, from above, as tried from car, it's okay but a bit mehhh?

Flying above a street is almost certainly a no-no, you may be better off with a tracking vehicle with jib arm - it'll come at a price, though

Cheers. Yea, I'll bet that takes a chunk of budget.. I've got a mini-jib and a sunroof. I'll just keep it lower than the tram lines :) I'm opting more for the time-lapse. Just got to get a good roof now, or big plungers

Oh my god! Flying down a high street will almost certainly get your equipment confiscated by the police and I doubt your insurance company would cover you.
I qualified as a drone operator with the CAA over a year ago and the problems I've encountered just flying in a park are ridiculous.
But good luck. My 2c worth.
