I used to direct TV drama, did a film of Wuthering Heights and many hour long series, and some children’s TV series, one of which won a Best Drama Bafta. I also did commercials for a while.

For the last fifteen years I have been developing films, seven in total, with significant cast and distribution attached, but though some did get financed, none went into production for various deeply depressing reasons. Believe me, if you didn’t already know it, our industry is deeply dysfunctional.

I am now out of the loop professionally, but for my own creative satisfaction I strongly feel the need to make a few things, shorts primarily, over the next six months. I have a script or two of my own, but I am interested in seeing if anyone here has anything I can help with as well.

Apart from my writing and directing expertise, I can bring a few practical things to the table. I have my own Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k, Zeiss lenses, and some simple lighting and sound equipment. I can also take a film from rushes to finished product on my Blackmagic Resolve edit suite. Finally I teach screen acting on a drama degree so have a good number of young actors I know and can recommend, but there is also the possibility of bringing more established talent I have worked with in as well if the project is really strong.

I do not want to produce or raise whatever funds might be needed, the creative process is what I crave, I want to turn words into something amazing and will do all I can to make that happen.

I do not require payment for any of this, but I would also not like to be out of pocket, so it would be good to have any expenses reimbursed.

If you would like to send me any short scripts (max length 15 pages) then please do so. I’m not fussy about genre, think I should throw open the doors to see if anyone walks through them. But I am looking for insightful and refined writing. I will also read anything I am sent and respond, not with feedback though (sorry).
