best methods for testing high end cine kit?

I was wondering about best or good practices on testing out lens render setting / apr / R3d Arri raw and lens configurations like 85mm arri master / anamorphic 2.35;1 / 4 perf 16 mm 3 perf. redlog or diff between f5 / f55 e.g. or blackmagic cannon 5mk 3?

noting the current platform preferences and wondering about testing methods.

What exactly are you trying to test? Colour reproduction? Image sharpness? Dynamic range? Without controlled tests it's all a bit subjective - plus, if you dig around on Google plenty of gearheads are out there comparing lenses and bodies against test charts etc.

For me, when it comes to picking the ideal camera and/or lenses for a shoot it'll usually come down to 'what do I want to achieve' and 'what budget do I have' :)
